PROENZA SCHOULER NEW YORK MAY-AUG DESIGN ASSISTANT INTERN
During my time at Proenza I was fortunate enough to be given a wide range of challenging projects which really utilised my key skills. The designer I assisted gave me the responsibility of creating over 100 complex Photoshop sketches for colourway options as well as many illustrator flats. These included intricate placements of scanned exotic skins which could be presented to Jack and Lazaro in order to make decisions about print and fabric placement. I also created an InDesign document for the entire range which was used by the merchandising and sales team. During the beginning of my placement I was able to use my previous experience of factories in New York’s garment district in order to source fabrics and trims and liaising between suppliers, cutting and sewing factories. As well as quality control I also assisted with the development of textile samples including laser cutting files, sewing trials and patchwork experiments. Towards the end of the placement I began to train other interns in Photoshop and InDesign, showing them techniques to create the coloured sketches and print repeats.

JOHN GALLIANO PARIS FEB- MAY PRINT DESIGN ASSISTANT INTERN
Over these three months I have had the opportunity to be involved at every stage of the print production for the main line, second, mens- wear and childrenswear. My print concepts and designs have been selected at various stages for development requiring me to present variations, colour-ways and repeat options. I have been relied upon by many members of the team for my Photoshop skills and often selected to assist in fittings after proving strong organisational skills. I completed my final month whilst the head of print was absent and was allocated the responsibility of finishing and checking many repeats, finalising sizes and sending the prints off for production.

SIKI IM NEW YORK OCT - JAN 2012 DESIGN ASSISTANT INTERN

During my time I was responsible for pattern cutting in the studio, alterations and all of the fittings as well as having a constant dialogue with the designer during the development of the upcoming season in relation to fabrics, details and finishes. It was also my job to relay these decisions to the factories and the tailors, visiting production almost every day for meetings and sample reviews.
